Watch Focus - God Who Gives Victory

The two costliest wars fought for this nation are the Civil War and World War I. Those wars cost a million American lives. The Great War shook foundations of the old empires and redrew the maps. Peace came on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. The watch focus begins with solemn remembrance and gratitude for every soldier, sailor, airman, and guard, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country from its founding until today. Every enlisted man and woman takes an oath in sworn service to our Republic.

Psalm 116:14-16   I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. Truly I am your servant, Lord; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains.

There are at least 81 battles preserved in scripture. Heroism and spoils of war as well as defeat and shame are part of the story. David is the Bible’s most regaled military leader. Not everything he did was right but his legacy is that his heart followed hard after God. He inspired loyalty and a commitment to God’s purpose for his nation. The mighty men who served David risked their lives just to bring him a cup of water from home to refresh him on the battlefield (2 Sam 23:13-17). David would not drink it. It showed his gratitude. David did not take lightly that they risked his life for him and the cause they fought for.

A soldier risks his life even when he is not trying to save one.

Psalm 60

For the director of music. To the tune of “The Lily of the Covenant.” A miktam of David. For teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.

You have rejected us, God, and burst upon us; you have been angry—now restore us! You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking. You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger. But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered. God has spoken from his sanctuary: “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah is my scepter. Moab is my washbasin; on Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?  Is it not you, God, you who have now rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?  Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless.  With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.

In 2016 Captain Clay Higgins gave a speech on Memorial Day at Liberty Summit in Fresno, California. He said, “This is certainly the somberest of holidays across our great nation. A time when we recognize those who have given the last full measure of devotion, our veteran brothers and sisters who one and all, of every creed and color, every shade of ideology, every ethnicity, and background, and culture. From every slice of the economic strata, they served their country with American patriotic fervor and were escorted to heaven upon the wings of angels. As we remember these men and women, we do so with humility. We know each of us, by the lives that we live, by our heritage and culture, that we are bonded by the unbreakable unwavering spirit of America. Our history is replayed with struggle and triumph. And at the heart of every struggle and triumph stood the American veteran. Why do we serve? What is it that would drive a soldier from a covered position to advance across the field of fire? Is it a hate? No. Is it fear? No. Is it the intention to follow orders? No ma'am. No Sir. It's love. A soldier recently told me, ‘Clay, we don't hate what's in front of us. We love what's behind us. Love is a cornerstone of our patriotic belief. Love is the cornerstone our Republic. As it has been it shall be.’”

We are witnessing one of the greatest cultural departures from patriotism in America. A generation of poor leaders has contributed greatly to disillusionment especially in our youth. Traditional values, honor, duty, and service to a godly vision for America is under attack. We are waging one of the greatest spiritual battles for the soul of our nation in its entire history. Christians who know their God and understand the times and seasons will know what to do. For the sake of the children coming behind us we take our place in intercession.

We pray for America.
We pray for our children.
We loose the spirit of revival.
We bind the spirit of lawlessness and every evil ideology invading our culture through the public institutions, education system, and social media avenues.

We pray for America’s leaders, lawmakers, and those who sit in the high places of our institutions. We welcome the counsel of the Lord to rise in our governmental structures and make the plans of those who intend harm or reversal of our Judeo Christian foundations to be of NO EFFECT!

Psalm 33:10-12 The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.

Father, we pray for removal of every political and educational leader in our nation pushing “woke” philosophy on our children. We ask our nation’s eyes to be opened to see the destructive nature of this ideology at every level. We bind its power and stand in the gap for the future of our nation. We pray for a return to righteousness according to Proverbs 14:34, righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people. Raise a banner to be unfurled against this satanic strategy. Save us! And help us with Your right hand!
